Stainless steel filter mesh are widely used for water filter. The water which need to be filter, is usually divided into two types. One is very dirty(with too many sand and impurities), another just with some sand. So we need at lest three types of mesh, one is 1mm to filter the big sand etc, another is 0.5mm to filter normal sand, and third 0.2mm. If you need the water for drinking, it should be 1mm, 0.5mm, 0.2mm 0.05mm 0.02mm, more. If you just want to remove sand then it should be 1mm, 0.5mm, 0.2mm.
